Welcome to Kanakadhara
The divine event of Kanakadharastavam occurred more than 1200 years ago in a remote but serene village of Kerala, within half an hour’s drive from today’s Aluva (Alwaye) in Kerala. Because of this event, that village is today known as Punnorcode and the house as Swarnathu Mana. Kanakadharastavam is most probably the first composition of Jagatguru Sri Adi Sankara, when he was just a boy who had just embraced asceticism. When the young Sankara recited this hymn, all sins of that Brahmin lady during her previous births were washed away and her penury gave way to prosperity.
Administration is conducted by the Office Bearers under the guidance of President, members of the Board of Advisors, members of the Board of Trustees and Tantri. Office bearers are elected by the trustees and trustees emerge from Active Donors by virtue of their work.
The project consists of several structures to house the temple for Goddess Mahalakshmi, idols of Jagatguru Adi Sankara and other upadevatas such as Lord Mahavishnu and Lord Shiva
If a begger comes to our door, we say, “You are strong and stout. It does not behove you to beg. Get lost.” We sit in judgement over the justification for his begging. The poor fellow feels ashamed. There is no trace of fellow-being in our hardened heart. How can we then have the right judgement about the fellow?
The project is located at Punnorkode under Pazhamthottam P.O. in Kunnathunadu taluk, Ernakulam District, Kerala state, India. The site is about one kilometer north of Pazhamthottam junction on the Aluva-Kolencherry bus route. This is a picturesque village, calm, cool and quite. This site is believed to have witnessed the divine incidence of Kanakadhara. This site is acquired from Swarnathu Mana, a name remniscent of that incidence.
